Current Work Title: Director of Marketing for AgencySparks
What are your responsibilities with AIMA? I help with all of AIMA’s marketing efforts – designing event imagery, setting up events in Eventbrite, email communications, posting on AIMA’s social media during events, and anything else that Kirsten needs assistance with!
How to get involved/help with your team?I believe all volunteers have to go through Cathy Ryan, our volunteer chair on the board. Aside from that, I would love social media support promoting our awesome offerings, events, and AIMA members. There is so much potential – we’d love the help!
How long have you been with AIMA?This is my first year, though I’ve been a member for about three years.
What does being involved in AIMA mean to you?I see it as being part of the “Atlanta Marketing Scene” – There are so many kind, impressive people involved and it’s an honor getting to work alongside them. Atlanta is becoming a national hub for marketing and AIMA is the only exclusively Atlanta-focused marketing community. I think that AIMA has the potential to play a critical role in elevating Atlanta’s reputation for marketing talent.
How did you get started with AIMA?I had my own consulting business and Joe Koufman, AIMA’s Treasurer, was a client of mine. He began taking me to events with him and eventually purchased a membership for me! Over time, I’ve gotten to know the AIMA members and this past year, April Fiek nominated me for a board position – which was awesome! I was eager to help out in any way that I could. This organization is special! What’s the biggest value AIMA provides to you?Network! I not only know some of the top marketers in Atlanta thanks to AIMA, I’m friends with quite a few of them. It’s nice to know that I have connections in the Atlanta marketing community that I can count on for mentorship, friendship, and career opportunities.
What’s your number one reason to be involved?AIMA provides both education and community – both of which are essential for professional development. The marketing industry is constantly changing and now, more than ever, it’s important for marketers to stay abreast of the latest industry trends. AIMA helps you do that.
What did you get involved with AIMA?April Fiek nominated me for a board position and I felt like I could contribute to the organization in a positive way.
Why do you stay involved with AIMA?It’s a community! I feel like we have a little Atlanta marketing family that other marketing networking organizations just don’t offer.
What do you do with your free time?I love to explore Atlanta. Most days, you can probably find me walking my dog around midtown. I enjoy anything creative – interior design, pyrography, drawing, etc. I also play soccer – sometimes with Kirsten Schlau, our head of marketing!
Are you an Atlanta native or transplant?Native of Georgia
What is your dream job?Probably continuing my consulting business! I really enjoyed working for myself. I’d love to start an agency one day.
Something you wish you could do if you had more time?I used to be in a band in high school – I guess I’d like to perform with them again! But occasional karaoke will have to do for now. Bucket list item to do in the next year?Learn a new coding language!
Favorite ATL hangout spot? Piedmont Park! Great pickup soccer.
Best book that you’ve read in the last 6 months? I’ve been reading The Feminine Mystique – which is eye-opening and fascinating to me!
