AIMA Volunteer Spotlight: Kathleen Hess

This week I sat down with Kath Hess to honor her for all the hard work she’s put into AIMA over the years! Let’s get right to it!

So have you always been in Atlanta, or what brought you here?

I grew up in Buford, GA, and college brought me to Atlanta (… I didn’t stray far from home…).

Where did you go to college?

I went to Emory University, a small liberal arts college in Atlanta.

Go Eagles! How’d you like it? Any notable experiences or involvement?

It was a great experience! I got involved with Emory’s chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi early in my college career (AKPsi is Emory’s on campus professional business fraternity). I served as VP marketing for a year and loved the experience. I was also involved with Emory’s Habitat for Humanity group and acted as their publicity chair for a few years.

Very cool! So what was your first job post-graduation?

An internship with Response Media turned into a full time position as an Associate Account Manager.

That’s awesome, congratulations on that! You must’ve been quite the intern 🙂 So what’s your current role? Any goals?

That’s sweet, thank you! I’m still at Response Media and currently an Account Manager. Account Managers at RM do a little bit of everything —lots of media and campaign management, analytics and ad trafficking. I’m a huge nerd and I love anything auction/bid based.

My current goal is to learn HTML5. I’m also trying to up my analytics, statistics and data-mining skills. I want to eventually get my MBA in marketing…I’m not sure if I’m interested in concentrating in analytics, consumer research, or brand management.

Love the ambition. So when did you become a member of AIMA?

I first got involved with AIMA in 2012 when I participated in their internship program.

The internship program is awesome, isn’t it? And your current role with AIMA?

It was! I’m currently helping out as social sponsorship chair! It’s pretty fun, and I get to meet everyone at AIMA’s excellent social events 😉

Right up my alley, nice! Let’s switch it up here: What do you like to do in your free time?

I love art, fashion, and interior design! I’m always blog stalking. I’m also big into thrifting! 🙂

Thrifting is great. So much fun finding those hidden treasures! What are you most excited for in the future of marketing?

It’s pretty nerdy…I’m super excited about cross-channel data integration, individualized data-driven targeting/messaging and digital savvy (discerning) millennials.

Exciting times in the digital marketing space, that’s for sure.

Thanks, Kath! We’re honored to have you, and excited to follow along in all your future successes!
